Pact on Migration and Asylum

Following the large influx of migrants into the European Union in 2015–2016, EU lawmakers adopted a reform of the Common European Asylum System in May 2024 in the form of a “Pact on Migration and Asylum,” consisting of nine regulations and one directive. Criticized by many NGOs, the Pact raises concerns about human rights violations that could result from it.
